MMB

I'd like to dedicate today's post to the Macho-sized Coke that I just downed in about fifteen seconds flat that will probably keep me up all night and ruin the start to my week tomorrow, but these are the prices I'm willing to pay to get my readers the vital insight they need. By now, you guys know the drill. Time to Burn!!!

-I'm tired of making excuses for Alex Smith. After all the hype, pressure, failure, mini success, change in coordinators, change in coaches, that he has gone through over the years, he has been handed the prime opportunity to succeed this year, and if game one of the season is any indication, it is that Alex just plain sucks. Fans can only be hopeful before too long. I give it two years before he is holding a clipboard behind Urban Meyer and wearing Gator blue.

-I promised that I would keep track of three Quarterbacks this year as my little hypothesis for how best to develop an NFL quarterback. Here are three stat lines for you, you can guess which one goes with which quarterback...

Oh, and one little hint in case the color coded stat bar wasn't enough for you, the only quarterback to win was the one at the top.

-I'll admit it, I was sad that BYU lost. I like Air Force, the whole Rudy feel they have going for them is really nice, but I didn't want them to win that game. As a fan, I'm past the point of getting enjoyment from watching the Coug fans go ape on their program and coaching staff after one loss. Okay, maybe not past it, but if someone is going to kick their a$$es in football, I want it to be Kyle Whittingham and the boys in Red. I think delusion is too strong a word to describe what Bronco was thinking with his two qb system, but as this staff has consistently proven, they need to experience the hurt in order to progress. I don't doubt that will happen this season.

-My living situation is such that I have to wait two more weeks to get my Directv activated and installed, and because of this, I was forced to scramble to find places to watch games on saturday. If you haven't found out about justin.tv yet, consider this my gift to you. I watched almost every game on my laptop this weekend, and while not the most optimal way to catch college football, it was pretty legit. Also, there may have been an incident at a party Saturday night where a young, attractive, blonde was asking me a question but I was so focused on watching the USC-Virginia game that I didn't even hear her. My name is Brown Bear, and I'm a college football-aholic.

-I'm a little disappointed with some of the newer reality TV stars I see. I missed the VMAs but caught a few pictures, and I still can't see whats so entertaining about Snookie. I was a little surprised with how nice both J Wow and Sammi looked on the red carpet, and was not surprised at all that Gaga looked like she rolled around on a meat locker floor. Call me old fashioned, but her so called "looks" don't deserve the accreditation that she is constantly receiving.

-Dear Bengals,

They are who we thought they were.

Signed,
Everyone who ever doubted the Patriots

Tom Brady looked like the only thing the car crash did was toughen him up more to dominate a Bengals defense that, in pre-season, looked capable of helping the team be Super Bowl Contenders. Clearly Belichik, aka the Hood was on his A game this week.

-After losing ten straight and dropping three of four to division rival San Fransisco, my beloved Padres are hanging to a one percentage point lead in the NL West. Am I worred? Slightly. Have I prepared myself all year for this? Yes. Will I be disappointed if I don't get the chance to sell whatever worldly possessions and possibly my soul to see them play in the World Series? Obviously. The way things are looking right now, The Padres would have their hands full trying to make it to late October. On the opposite side of the fence, it looks like the true contenders for the AL crown have to be the Yankees, Rays, and Twins. Being that I am a terrible gambler, I won't say bet the house on the Yankees, but I can't really see either the Twins or the Rays having the horses to run with the Bombers in the playoffs. And yes, baseball is still being played. Not that I would blame you if you were ignoring it.

-Kudos to you Ray Lewis, you were good, but not this good...

Hope you enjoyed my burns for today. Keep it Fresh Ya'll...

  1. Good post! My take on the QB sitiuation is as follows:
    - We have the best receiving corps, probably ever.
    - We invented passing, and have been a passing offense for 30 yrs.
    - We committed the #1 pro-style QB in the country

And we're adapting our offense to a 5'10" 195 lbs. running QB that would be 2nd string at Utah State because he has life experiences? WT-FREAK?
