Monday Night Notes

Now that the "Hall of fame Game" has come and gone it means one thing. It's football time! The game last night was ugly and I'm surprised I was able to watch 2 quarters without pulling my hair out. It was ugly, But that's ok because it's football. Personally I would prefer to watch a poorly played football game than most other sports. I'll take a low scoring Bills Vs. Browns game over any regular season baseball game. Yankees vs. Sox, extra innings, a great pitchers duel. I don't care. I'll take the NFL and football. So with Football being right around the corner I will bring you my first edition of "Monday Night Notes."

-Albert Haynesworth finally passed his "conditioning test." Should it really take 10 days for a man who is paid $100 million to be a physical athlete to pass his conditioning test? If you answer Yes to this question you probably couldn't pass the test yourself. Eating Donuts and Cheeseburgers is not a "Off-season" activity and "swollen and sore knee" is code for Lazy and Out of Shape.

-The Denver Broncos are in the spotlight this off-season and it couldn't be more boring. I'm not a fan of the Donkeys and never will be. Tim Tebow was a great college player. I'm just tired of hearing about him and his new haircut in camp. Or how many reps he got in practice. Nobody cares. I don't even think people in Denver care.

-Brett Favre will play football this year. He wants you to think he's a magician. He's retired, now he's not. He'll be in Minnesota towards the end of camp.

-College football camps opened up the end of last weekend. Best time of the year for all your teams. Sky is the limit and everyone thinks they have the talent to win their conference and be a top 25 team. Here's a look at local camps.

-BYU goes into fall camp yet to name a new starting QB to take over for Max Hall. The competition is between Riley Nelson, Jake Heaps and James Lark. Also Jason Munns who just returned from a LDS Mission. Don't fool yourself though. Nelson and Heaps is the real competition and I'm not sure how long Nelson can hold of Heaps. My prediction - The job is Heaps' from day 1. The defense returns some starters and has holes up front. Look for Andrew Rich in the Secondary to be the leader.

-Utah comes into their last season in the MWC with high hopes. Jordan Wynn played strong as a Freshman and the offense is expected to be powerful with a lot of weapons. They return RB's Matt Asiata and Eddie Wide. The offense should be a strength. The defense has some holes to fill. People forget that Utah lost a lot of starters to the NFL draft and graduation. They will need to reload and play well early for the Utes to have MWC title hopes. The defense will be the key for this team. Opener on Sept. 2nd against Pitt should be fun.

-Utah St. is Still located in Logan, Utah and are still called the Aggies. That's about all you need to know.

Thanks for reading the 1st edition of "Monday Night Notes" in the "Chase Blog Lounge" Stay Good. - Chasey T
