You thought I'd forget, didn't you? Too much happening this weekend to skip this. As always, this is what I was burning on over the weekend.
-Give 'em the ole TEEE-BOWWW- Tim Tebow scored his first NFL touchdown. Now we get to spend all week analyzing and debating and calculating exactly how good he will be. STOP IT RIGHT NOW!! I like Tebow, I think he's a good guy from what I've seen, I think he is good for the game of football, and I think he'll be a good player for the Broncos. I just don't need to see that every hour of every day. There are lots of quarterbacks in the NFL doing things right now, that might even be BETTER than Tebow getting a haircut or, GASP!, scoring his first touchdown.
-I claim to be a Bengals fan. This year, as I have mentioned earlier, I have a friend who is trying to play his way on to the team, so obviously my attention has been further focused on it, but I'm not sure I'll ever be a Bengals fan like I am a Utah Utes fan, or a San Diego Padre fan. The NFL is just too much fun, too enjoyable, and too talented to only like watching one team. I'll continuously keep my eye on the Bengals, Niners, Chargers, Bears, Ravens, Dolphins and even Titans, not to mention whatever I get tossed my way by ESPN and Fox and CBS.
-Dear Dustin Johnson, You and I have never met, but we share something in common. I also have made a careless mistake or two in my day. I do feel bad for you, and while I agree that you probably should have taken more notice of what the rules were for the course you play, this one is on the PGA in my opinion. As the governing body of the game in general, it is your responsibility to make sure every player is aware of what does and does not constitute a bunker. In this case, where the crowd had previously been standing, someone should have notified Johnson at some point, either before his tee shot or after, that the area his ball came to rest in was in fact, a bunker. Events like this are the reason why Communications has its' very own degree.
-Thank you, Jonathon Sanchez. I have no idea if your little quote earlier in the week led to extra motivation for the Friars over the weekend, or if this team is just THAT focused and determined to win, but the Padres came out of the weekend with a 3 1/2 game lead. In the middle of August, that means little, but for the Padres to go in there and not only win two, but have had a chance to take all three games IN San Fransisco, well, it does allow one to at least consider that four letter word that every fan fears, Hope.
-I don't know who to contact about this, but we need someone to intervene and make sure it happens EVERY game this year. This pretty much solidifies my support of Bill Simmons' campaign for The Minister of Sports.
-Thank you, Udonis Haslem, for giving us at least another week of lame speculation about how his dope-smoking will affect the Superfriends' pursuit of a title. I can't hate though, because if Udonis likes his weed as much as I like my Del Taco, I know how hard it can be to wait until you get home to, er, partake.
-I thought The Other Guys was ok. Comedies are hard to nail, and it felt like at times this one was missing continuity, but I did laugh pretty hard at some parts. Eva Mendes is HOT. Mark Wahlberg is short, and I ultimately wasn't wishing that I had gone to see Expendables instead. So there ya go.
-In keeping with themes, I'm leaving you all with a little piece I found on Maxim.com. Lets just say it's a good rule of THUMB for V-Necks. Seriously, that was too easy right there. I'm out folks, have a happy Monday. Be Fresh Ya'll.
Great Post! Although the Padres have been dominating the regular season in the NL West I think that when things are all said an done it will be my Giants who win the Division. I know the Padres have been leading ALL year long but it only matters who's leading on October 3rd! This is the first year the Padres have been in contention and in all my years of following baseball I have seen that more often than not teams that don't have playoff experience fold or stumble when it comes down to the stretch. My Giants have done this the last 2 years and now they have garnered the required experience and will be able to thrive in September to close it out while I see the pressure finally start catching up to the Padres. The last 3 games of the regular season are SF vs SD in SF! That alone could very well decide the NL West Champion! Go Giants!
