Practice Notes: 3/10/2011
Running game was definitely the central focus of today’s practice. John White, Thretton Palamo, Harvey Langi and Luke Matthews all rotated, with none of the listed RBs really setting themselves apart. White is a speedy, shifty, hard running back with a low center of gravity much like Kendall Hunter or a less-talented Barry Sanders. Langi looked a little overwhelmed at times, but is without a doubt physically ready to play. Palamo is just a bowling ball, and I thought Matthews was steady and ran hard, but nothing spectacular. Receivers are talented, was impressed by Dres Anderson, Kenneth Scott, Dexter Ransom and Mo Lee, and Westlee Tonga, who looks like he will really turn some heads in the new offense with his versatility. Brian Blechen looked like a natural at linebacker, and you can tell the secondary will make some strides, as they had both Robles and Shreve looking to tuck and run a few times. Offense looked sharp for the second day of spring, with Shreve definitely having a better day than Robles throwing the ball, although neither looked uniquely outstanding. O and D lines were steady, hard to read much from them without pads, and the kickers did a nice job of jogging around the field for most of practice.
